Franklin Junior High building was built in 1932, providing middle schooling education until its closure in 2005.  Since 2009 the building has served as the Franklin Art Center.   Among the features carried over and preserved from its original design is the subterranean cafeteria which retains its special status as a qualified NUCLEAR FALLOUT SHELTER.
