AR & photogrammetry
Augmented Reality (AR) represents the next stage in high tech environmental interaction. Whereas VR creates an enclosed virtual environment, AR represents a fusion of virtual and real world space called mixed reality. AR requires a device with a camera whereby a virtual object is displayed as though it were in the space the camera is viewing.
The example on the right represents a retro 70s sci fi hologram, featuring my daughter dancing. The visual is set to appear and lock-into place with a one dollar bill. While the dollar moves the image continues to track on top of it.
